Drawing Anime - Tips And Techniques

By Taiku Kitamura

Animation is often known as anime as an easier way to term it. The phrase was born from animation artwork from Japan such as cartoons or comics. However, it is now more often than not used with cartoons from the country.

It can be a difficult and tiring process when learning how to draw anime. Being passionate in the art form has to be integral in everything that is done with it. If there is no love for anime, one will be hard pressed for fresh ideas and often end up frustrated.

An anime artist must also be quite imaginative. This is the main and an important source for ideas for drawing new characters, scenes and stories as a whole. An anime artist without imagination would be like an individual trying to become a champion weightlifter without knowing how to train.

Art can be as much about talent as it is about effort. Those with natural talent would find it easier to learn the ropes, especially with techniques involved in various forms of drawing. It does not necessarily rule out those with less or no talent, but it is an edge that figures prominently in successful anime artists.

If one has a lack of natural talent, then he or she needs to turn to simple dedication of effort. There are tons of famous anime artists who are not necessarily the best in their field. However, they are more hardworking and this can apply for those in the same boat.

Personal traits and abilities are essential in learning how to draw anime. Techniques are also required in order to build on the more inert skills. The combination of the two will be what makes an anime artist more successful than those who lack in either department.

As mentioned, being able to absorb other individual's work and style can be a great source of inspiration. It will help an anime artist further his craft, just as musicians become more noticeable and better when they allow their influences to come together. This will require that artists do not keep to themselves and always get to know people from within and outside their industry.

Skills and techniques can also be improved from more traditional sources. These include learning other anime drawing techniques from books or from art school. It is ultimately important to broaden your horizon as much as possible so as to reach out and become a great anime artist. - 18758
