Learn How To Play Blues Guitar

By Floyd A. Trentino

Looking for blues guitar lessons " Why? Blues guitar formed the roots of most modern music i.e. Rock " Metal " Funk " R&B etc Many new guitar students like to start of with blues guitar because it less complex than say classical guitar and they can start making music faster and continue to be motivated.

Why do students start out with blues guitar lessons? Well the main reason is that they can pick up the basics quicker and this sustains their interest. Blues fundamentals will make even the most newbie guitar play sound brilliant.

When I first sit down with a new student I like to teach them the pentatonic scale on the guitar. Its easy because its a 5 note pattern. Students seem to remember this pattern easily plus this is the building block of things to come in additional guitar lessons.

The other great thing about the pentatonic scale is being that it only has 5 notes. This is great when you are soloing over say a 12 "Bar Blues progression. Why? Well the conflicting notes are removed allow you to solo more freely and not worry about playing a sour note. So the first blues guitar lesson should cover that scale.

Power chords are typically the next lesson for blues guitar. This works well because power chords are built from the root note and the 5th note above that. So its a 2 note chord and easy for the student learn and apply.

Power chords are fun and easy to play and the cool thing is that these are called movable chords. Movable chords can be moved all over the fretboard without changing the chord shape. So this makes teaching the 12 Bar Blues Progression very easy.

Learning how to play a 12 Bar Blues progression is easy after you got your power chords down. Its a simple progression that follows a certain order and can be played in every key. Its a very common progression and your students will know millions of songs built from it.

To boost my students interest I usually play a 12 Bar Blues and have them improvise a simple solo over it. Whats cool about this is that I get to take break LOL no but whats cool is the student finally gets the feeling composing their own music.

The great thing is that we have a looping jam box online loaded with hours of backing tracks for our student use and learn with. They get to pick any key they want and then rock out!

Well I really hope to hang with you in the members area soon. If you want to really learn guitar and play the blues like a pro it can be done fast and easy right online. Why not blow away your family and friends with your new found talent. After all you owe it to yourself. - 18758
