How Does Piano Lesson Software Rate Against Personal Instruction?

By Michael Mickey Charles

Engaging the services of a private music instructor is usually the first step you accomplish when you want to learn how to play an instrument. However, thanks to the internet and computers, there are technological options available in your quest to learn an instrument. With a large number of people wanting to learn how to play an instrument, like the piano, they may not always have the resources " contacts or money " to hire someone.

These programs are readily available on many sites online and are an economical choice when compared to the hourly fee of an actual in-house instructor but cost is not the only beneficial aspect of using piano lesson software.

This software allows anyone who uses it to learn and develop their skills at their own individual pace. Users are able designate whatever amount of time they feel is adequate without feeling pressured into an instructors time slot, and no one ever has to worry about the next lesson being too advanced for their comfort.

Besides, if you take a music class with other students, the need to review past material may hold others back. With the software, you can take the piano lessons at any time " day or night. You can review old material or even skip ahead if you are feeling ambitious. Being in control of your own learning curve when studying piano will make you even more determined to succeed.

Another thing to consider when considering piano lesson software versus an instructor is that the software can be used by anyone at any time. If someone else in your family or circle of friends wishes to learn but cannot arrange their schedule with your private lessons, only you receive the benefit of instruction. However, with the software, anyone with a desire to learn piano can take the lessons at any time day or night. It could become quite the family affair, with members learning at their own rate and you being able to compare your results with theirs and even support their efforts along the way.

Piano lesson software really has only one disadvantage. You do not get to benefit from a private instructor's personal knowledge of the piano instrument or their enthusiasm and guidance. You will not be able to share a love of piano with them, learning about different techniques and hints that are personal to the instructor and likely not covered in the software. Losing the personal aspect of face to face instruction is really the only drawback to using piano lesson software. You have to decide whether you can face the strict scheduling of a private instructor and a possibly cumbersome fee or the freedom, flexibility and affordability that the software provides for your self-instruction needs. - 18758

Thanks for this information because I don't know if I will enroll to a music school or I will buy a Piano Lesson Software. There was a piano software that I found on this website and I think this is also good to practice.
