Everyone seems to have a clear preferred when it comes to movie genres. Some love horror movies, some like action movies, some favor dramas or chick flicks and lots of of us get pleasure from good documentaries. But even though we have favorites there are always movies from the other genres that we end up loving too.
The truth is that terrific movies come from all of the various genres. Movies are meant to amuse us and that they do. It seems that every movie is respected by someone and of course, some movies are prized by many.
Each list of the greatest movies is inclined by the view of the list maker unless it is just a list of profits. All the other lists take in the attitude of the person making the list and therefore no list is ever complete because some movie that someone loved will be left off. It is impractical to list every favorite.
Dramas are pretty admired with most people. Some of the best drama's from the past 20 years or so would take in "Slumdog Millionaire" from 2008, "Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind" from 2004 from very recent, and "Schindler's List" from 1993, "American Beauty" from 1999, "The Shawshank Redemption" and "Forrest Gump" both from 1994, and of course, lots of others that there is no room to reference.
Horror movies are enjoyable if you love to be fearful and the majority of us do at times. Some classics that must be seen are "The Exorcist", "Silence of the Lambs" and "The Shining". Some more modern scary flicks are "30 days of Night" and "The Saw' franchise movies. You can't overlook the "Friday the 13th" and "Halloween" movies. Stephen King has always scared the bejesus out of us so anything from him is usually really good.
The comedy movies are liable to amuse all. Who doesn't love to laugh? One movie that may only be fitting for adults but will make you really, really laugh is "The 40 year old Virgin". A couple of actors are really good at bringing us funny movies. No matter which by Adam Sandler or Jim Carrey is usually pretty amusing. And the actor alumni from Saturday Night Live all make funny movies. Check out Will Farrell in "Semi-Pro" or "Blades of Glory" or anything for that matter or Tina Fey and Amy Poehler in "Baby Mama" from 2008.
The movies that folks want to view over and over again are often the chick-flicks. If you are a fan of Reese Witherspoon try "Sweet Home Alabama" or "Just Like Heaven". There are older favorites like "Fools Rush In" or "Sweet Home Alabama". A great chick movie from 2008 is "What Happens In Vegas" with Cameron Diaz and Ashton Kutcher. Everyone loves a good chick flick.
