Dragonfly: An ER doctor, mourning for his lifeless spouse, acquires a succession of signals from her-containing messages from youthful subjects who've had near-death experiences. What do they mean? More drawn out than it needs to be, although a captivating and abnormal tale of one guy's metaphysical odyssey. Cast includes Kevin Costner, Kathy Bates, Joe Morton, Ron Rifkin, Linda Seek, Susanna Thompson, Jacob Vargas, Jay Thomas, and Matt Craven. (103 minutes, 2002)

Shack Out on 101: Lee Marvin is a cook named Slob at a seaside greasy spoon in this cold war classic.The waitress (Terry Moore) seems to be spending most of her time fending off the lecherous advances of almost all her co-stars, but in fact she is trying to stop nuclear secrets from leaving the country. This is positively a one of a kind film, with most of the action taking place on a lone shabby set. Cast includes Terry Moore, Frank Lovejoy, Lee Marvin, Keenan Wynn, and Whit Bissell. (90 minutes, 1955)

Raintree County: Clift is a small town Hoosier who makes the blunder of wedding Southern belle Taylor before the start of the Civil War. Intense performing and memorable Johnny Green score help make up for the over-long script. Clift was maimed in near-lethal automobile mishap throughout production, and his work understandably agonizes for it. Cast includes Elizabeth Taylor, Montgomery Clift, Eva Marie Savior, Lee Marvin, and Nigel Patrick. (168 minutes, 1957)

Lillian Russell: This is a strained bio of the early 2Oth-century megastar. Lavish surroundings and weak plot line decrease Faye's work. Arnold replicates his Diamond Jim Brady role with zest. Cast includes Alice Faye, Don Ameche, Henry Fonda, Edward Arnold, Warren William, Leo Carrillo, and Nigel Bruce. (127 minutes, 1940)

Dinner Rush: A tumultuous day in the life of a recently fashionable N.Y.C. restaurant. Owner Aiello is considering of giving up his bookie job, his megastar cook is requesting part ownership of the restaurant, and then 2 mobsters materialized to pay an unfriendly visit, etc. Flavorful film has the ring of reality inside the restaurant, and outside it is is brimming with life. Cast includes Danny Aiello, Edoardo Ballerini, Vivian Wu, Mike McGlone, Kirk Acevedo, John Corbett, Sandra Bernhard, Summer Phoenix, Polly Draper, Mark Margolis, and Ajay Naidu. (100 minutes, 2001)

The Clubland: Youthful gentleman and his buddies set out to make it in the music industry by operating at a hip club on L.A.' s Sundown Strip, however they have to handle sleazy publicists and identity complications within the band. Modern-day music and trappings might camouflage, or defeat, a soggy tale that may have been made as a 1930s B film. Cast includes Jimmy Tuckett, Lori Trivial, Brad Seek, Heather Stephens, Rodney Eastman, Friend Quaid, Terence Trent D' Arby, Alexis Arquette, and Steven Tyler. (94 minutes, 1999)
