Masters of the Guitar
With a number of extraordinary guitarists known for their extraordinary skill, making an All Time Greatest list can be an intimidating task. Most of these guitar players provided a source of inspiration for the new generation of guitarists. Others have asserted their influence in more ways than music. Their names have endured the test of time, which is why they deserved to be called legends.
A whole lot of accomplished guitar players and starting guitar students look up to these legends. Someday, this new wave of guitarists will make a shot for fame and glory, but for no, they still have to do what it takes to be mentioned in the same breath with the legends in this list. Without further ado, here are your heroes of the guitar.
Jimi Hendrix remains to be the best guitarist ever. After performing at the Monterey Pop Festival and then later at Woodstock in'69, Hendrix's popularoty soared. But it was his disregard for guitar conventions that made him a stuff of legend. Hendrix pioneered the use of guitar feedback and overdriven amplifiers which was then considered a bad way to make music. He simply opened the door so others can enter.
Next on the list is Jimmy Page. Best known for his association with the equally-legendary rock band Led Zeppelin, Page was one of the core members of the Yardbirds band. He is a high performer, making music with his Gibson Les Paul Classic while doing wild stage antics. His passion for the show made him the the ninth greatest guitarist in the Rolling Stones top 100 list.
Carlos Santana is also a shaman with his Gibson SG electric guitar. Fusing Latin flair with his own taste of rock, blues, jazz fusion and salsa, Santana's music is inspiring. With him paving the way, a number of Latinos are now making the rounds in the music scene.
An original Yardbirds member, Eric Clapton is considered as the most successful guitarist of his era. Inducted to the Hall of Fame three times and numerous Grammy Music awards under his belt, Clapton is a simply amazing when he plays with his Eric Clapton Artist Signature Stratocaster. A lot of guitarists try to emulate Clapton, which is a clear indication of his fame.
These are the legends of guitar playing. But they are not the same. The one thing these guys all have in common is that there is literally no end to their natural talent to really play the guitar. - 18758
