Michael Jackson Thriller: The Person. The Music

By Jon Moreno

When people think of Michael Jackson Thriller a lot of things come to mind. Thriller was Jackson's sixth album that he ever put out. This album was released worldwide in nineteen eighty two. This album came after his other famous album off the wall which came out in nineteen seventy nine.

Between off the wall and thriller Jackson went through a lot of changes. Between this time Jackson was having a lot of family problems. Including his father going through an affair with another woman that was twenty years younger than him and also having a child with the same woman, and then later telling his family about it.

thriller was released on November thirtieth in the year nineteen eighty two by Epic Records. This album followed Jackson's famous and successful album Off the wall which was released in nineteen seventy nine.

In nineteen eighty Jackson asked Rolling stone to do a magazine cover for his album "Off the wall" and rolling stone declined which made Jackson upset. He stated that rolling stone told him that black people on the front of magazine covers do not sell well. And Jackson said "just wait, some day the magazines would be begging me for an interview".

Thriller was also preserved to the National Library of Congress and they deemed it "Culturally significant". Jackson's other album off the wall was a huge success but not as largely known as Thriller although it did receive favorable reviews just like thriller.

Unlike many artists, Jackson did not write his songs on paper and when he recorded he simply remembered these songs in his mind. Jones also told Jackson that thriller would not make it and be as successful as Off the wall, but Jackson went ahead and put it on the album anyways. It is a good thing he did because if he did not we would not have this wonderful song that so many people love. - 18758
