The Lost Continent: The steamer drifts into the seaweed suffocated Sargasso Ocean and finds a lost continent with a secluded ancient culture acquired from Spanish monarchy. Excellent cast handles uneven script straight-faced. Cast includes Eric Porter, Hildegard Knef, Suzanna Leigh, Tony Beckley, Nigel Stock, and Neil McCallu. (89 minutes,'68)
The Hills Have Eyes: Common American family on a camping trip is pestered by brute, cannibalistic mutants. The film is above better than most like it, with compact direction and lots of entertaining twists and turns. An Incredibly gory film that has possessed a cult following. Cast includes Susan Lanier, Robert Houston, Virginia Vincent, Russ Mourn, Dee Wallace, Martin Speer, and Michael Berryman. (89 minutes,'77)
The Delinquents: Intriguingly poor exploitation drama in regards to a fine boy who becomes part of a local gang since lady friend is too young to go steady. This is Altman's first film, made in Kansas City, with Julia Lee singing "Muddy Rock Boogie." Cast includes Tom Laughlin, Peter Miller, Richard Bakalyan, Rosemary Howard, and Helene Hawley. Albino Alligator: Disheartening flick in regards to a trio of dysfunctional lawbreakers who hide out in a basement bar in New Orleans, accidentally starting a crisis. In the mean time, the Feds assemble outside, imagining a much more perilous and desired lawbreaker is holed up inside. Spacey's directorial debut presents an excellent cast and gets off to a promising start, however it sputters to a dramatic stop midway through. Jack's Back: Umpteenth retelling of the Jack The Ripper legend is updated to modern day L.A. where youthful physician Spader is the #1 suspect. Prostitutes are slaughtered in grisly style one hundred years to the night after Bloody Jack's legendary offenses. The twist midway through is preposterous. Cast includes James Spader, Cynthia Gibb, Pole Loomis, Rex Ryon, Robert Picardo, Chris Mulkey, and Dauitza Kingsley. (97 minutes,'88)
