Just Cause: A famous Harvard Law School professor is convinced to help a black gentleman in Florida who's getting ready to be executed for a heinous offense he avows he didn't carry out. He takes on the case and things take many twists and turns before we see how things turn out.. Cast includes Sean Connery, Laurence Fishburne, Kate Capshaw, Blair Underwood, Ed Harris, Chris Sarandon, and George Plimpton. (102 minutes,'95)
King David: Dense biblical tale tracks young David's life from his boyhood battle with Goliath to his anxious reign as emperor; only goes bad in the second half, where abruptness sabotages narrative. This movie is visually striking, with Donald McAlpine's photography. Cast includes Richard Gere, Edward Woodward, Alice Krige, Denis Quilley, Niall Buggy, Cherie Lunghi, Hurd Hatfield, and Jack Klaff. (114 minutes,'85)
The Beverly Hillbillies: This is a movie based on the'60's TV series. When Jed Clampett accidentally finds oil on his rural land in Arkansas, he becomes an instant billionaire. He brings the whole Clampett clan out to Beverly Hills. Being simple country folk they are pray to every money hungry con artist in the big city.
Jackie Chan's Who Am I: Chan is part of a secret armed forces team sent on a lethal mission. He loses his memory, and can't figure out why people are after him. This is an action film with very little else to it. Cast includes Jackie Chan, Michelle Ferre, Mirai Yarnarnoto, Ron Smerczak, Ed Nelson, and Tom Pompert. (108 minutes,'98)
Nothing to Lose: Nick Bearns is having a bad day. He just caught his wife in bed with his boss. Now he is being carjack while sitting at a stoplight. Angry and feeling he has nothing to lose; he turns the tables on the crook, and kidnaps him. Eventually these two misfits collaborate to get back at Nick's boss is this fun filled comedy.
Fantastic Invasion of The Planet Earth: Discharged theatrically in 3-D, this movie was pretty much a disaster. A young couple finds themselves caught in a deserted town encircled in a mammoth bubble. The original title, The Bubble, was far less deceiving: there are no foreigners and no "invasion" in fact, and not much enthusiasm, either. Cast includes Filmed in widescreen Space-Vision. Mr. Nice Guy: Jackie Chan, a Television cook, is chased by 2 sets of men who are both after an incriminating videotape that's fallen into his hands. Shimmering and arousing fights abound, the best and funniest orchestrated at a construction site. Cast includes Jackie Chan, Richard Norton, Miki Lee, Karen McLymont, Gamelle Fitzpatrick, and Vince Poletto. (113 minutes,'97)
