Guitar For Beginners - Where do I start?

By Ari Cooper-Smith

Guitar for beginners is all about starting from the beginning and learning the basics of playing the guitar. This instrument is often said to be one of the easiest ones to learn. In saying that in order to become a good guitar player you need to practice and spend time playing your guitar. Most of all you must enjoy playing your guitar. Practice hard and have fun with it.

To start of with you should really learn some basci strumming patterns and perhaps some chords. This will give you a lot to start working on and practicing. If you practice each and every day you will see yourself improving dramatically. Don't overdo it though. Practice for short periods of time but very frequently. This is much better than to practice for hours once every month.

Learning guitar for beginners can be a daunting task at first as coordinating your hands to play the right notes ad hold the correct chords while strumming the guitar can be challenging. When you first start of you will find it uncomfortable and your fingers will hurt. Just remember all great guitarists have gone through this. You just need to push through and continue the practice. The more you play the faster you will see yourself improving.

Once you are comfortable with easily navigating through the fret board you will have to work on the hardest part of playing guitar and that is getting your strumming hand to play the notes how you want them to be played. This might sound easier than getting your fingers to push the strings down but it's actually the more difficult of the two. Everyone that plays guitar pushes down the strings to make a chord or form a scale but its how you play the notes that gives you the sound of how you want to play them to form a song or riff. Basically, it's not what you play, but how you play it. Always remember that learning to play the guitar for beginners is something not everyone can do easily and you should be prepared to take the time and have the patience to take on this endeavor head on.

After you have learn to physically play the guitar and strum you will move on to playing actual songs. As you are learning guitar for beginners you should start of with very simple songs and move your way up. Break down the songs into parts and practice each part until you comfortable playing them. Once you have done this you can put it all together. You will see yourself improving very quickly and you will be able to motivate yourself.

Many people learning guitar for beginners don't see themselves improving as they don't play and practice enough. You must have a hunger to master the skills of a guitarist. Constantly play your guitar even if you are simply playing one chord. Just practice, practice and practice some more. - 18758
