Understanding Music

By Corey Greek

There are several types of music that depending on your culture and the kind of music you like you can listen and perform. I would like to talk about the types of music that you perform in your daily life.

If you are a lover of the pop music or blues, or something like that, let me tell you that the more you listen to the music you perform from other musicians the better knowledge you will have about the music you are playing.

Music is a very special language that is improved by the ear. The more you listen the better you will perform something. In the case of popular music is so. 80% of the music played around the world is listened music that is not required of knowledge of writing and reading music.

If you like jazz you should listen to a lot of jazz and even start experimenting with blues scales so that you can make your own style which evidently will come from all the music you know. The music that you can listen to and the music you can read or study.

The types of music are today very important in any culture around the world because the music of today is based on fusions of diverse genres and rhythms that can be combined and create new music, styles, trends and new types of music.

This last thing is pretty important because in most reputable music colleges such as Berkley School of Music, they say to all their alumni that the music is not their hobby, now the music will be their careers and this is why the music is based in something very serious that require responsibility and effort. The efforts of many people have led them to create new styles and make important fusions of music. - 18758

A Unique Perspective On The Best Movies Released In 2008

By Lowery Johnston

What are the best movies worth seeing that were made in 2008? Even though the question is very straightforward, it all depends on your genre preference. The movie industry produced a series of blockbuster hits that filled the seats at movie theaters with hundreds of thousands of seat in movie theaters all across the country.

People in general love to watch movies. Video Business once published a series of statistics that indicated the average American views at least seven movies each month. Most of these movies are watched on DVD or as a download from their cable provider.

What is really interesting is that Hollywood released over 500 different movies and films in the year 2009. While many of these titles are totally unbeknown to the average blockbuster movie watcher, they were enjoyed by people that favored special interest films such as those who love watching sequels which are reproductions of English-language films.

Towards the close of the 2008 year, movie critics from all over the globe scrambled to sum up the best movies for the calendar year. Hundreds of movies were reviewed and critiqued. How did I sum up the films for 2008? Personally, I stayed away from movies that focused on depression and sadness. While they make for good drama, very often they leave the viewer feeling somewhat empty and depressed.

Personally, I love to watch movies that invoke a deep sense of suspense or a good action movie. These types of movies seem to take you away from the everyday cares of life while projecting you into a fictitious world of entertaining possibilities. They are a wonderful source for entertainment.

Was 2008 a good year for the movie industry? This is not an easy question to answer. For some it was a horrible year while others enjoyed one dynamic film after another.

There's almost never a satisfying way to sum up a year of movies, particularly when you're just emerging from that year and still trying to analyze the importance of all the big hits or, perhaps more accurately, the lack of significance.

So what kind of movies did you enjoy in 2008? I am sure you found the time to entertain yourself and the family with movies that made you feel good inside. My personal favorites were as follows: Wanted, Tropic Thunder, Slumdog Millionaire, Burn After Reading, The Visitor, Forgetting Sarah Marshall, Gran Torino, WALL-E, Iron Man and The Dark Knight. If you have never seen any of these, I suggest you rent them at your local video store. You will love the entertainment value they bring to your world of movie indulgent. - 18758

How To Clean Cymbals

By Amy Nutt

Are you looking for information on how to clean your cymbals without necessarily making them rust? Are you wondering what solutions to use in cleaning the grime off the cymbals? Then you should read this article. Drummers have different tastes and this is the reason you often find some cymbals looking new and shiny while others look old and used.

These all depend on the choice of the drummers. Some drummers like the cymbal looking used and grimy thus giving the impression that it is often frequently used while others hate to see the cymbals dirty and grimy. The look of a new cymbal often excites people like this and gets them itching for the sticks. The truth is that whether cleaned or not, cymbals give off the same sound although some drummers say when it is not clean, and use over a certain period, it give off a "warm" sound.

Apart from this, some drummers worry that their cymbals will have problems being cleaned. Clean cymbals may sometimes give off better sound. But dirt on some kinds of cymbals are known to help reduce their brash sounds. Each drummer really has his preferences. But, if you do not belong to the group of people who feel that dirty cymbals are the "thing", then here's how to clean the cymbal using different methods:

1. Clean with gentle soaps. Most gentle soaps are far better at cleaning the cymbal than more potent solutions. However, the soaps aren't just enough to clean the cymbals and it isn't advisable to use just about any clean cloth. Cymbal cleaners are preferably the best because of their ability to add some shine to the cymbal making it look new in the process. Cymbal cleaners are easily available at any drums or music equipment shop.

2. Avoid cleaning with water as cymbals made of copper tend to turn green when water is consistently used to clean them. Besides water takes off the shine leaving it exposed to rust and corrosion.

3. A combination of vinegar and lemon can help get rid of all the tar. Lemon has always been known as an astringent and has a lot of cleaning ability. To do this, divide a lemon into 2, squeeze one half onto whole surface of the cymbal and use the other to rub the lemon around. If you have a pot cleaner, apply this and rub on the lemon. This will bring out the shine. You can do this for the 2 surfaces. Then apply the vinegar. If you want to keep the label of the cymbal, avoid applying the vinegar to the point and wash off with warm water. Do not leave to air dry. Dry them properly with cotton materials.

4. If you do not like any of these, why not buy the cymbal brand's cream or liquid. These were produced specifically for the cymbals and work like magic all the time, leaving them clean and looking new. The only downside to this is that it could be a bit pricey. - 18758

A Popular American Author's Books That Were Turned Into Films

By Jacob Freeman

John Grisham has been one of America's most beloved writers since 1989. His books have sold over 250 million copies globally. The preponderance of his books, in truth seventeen in all, are legal fiction on the other hand he has authored 4 non-legal fiction works and one non-fiction book. As of this time there have been ten movies made from his labor with one in the works.

His second book, "The Firm", was the first story to be completed into a picture back in 1993. In this movie, starring Tom Cruise, Jeanne Tripplehorn and Gene Hackman, a youthful Harvard Law School graduate begins working at a rather shady Memphis law firm. In that same year of 1993, a second John Grisham book to picture came out, "The Pelican Brief" starring Julia Roberts and Denzel Washington.

"The Client" came out in 1994. This show follows an eleven year old boy who by chance witnesses a suicide and finds himself being chased by the mafia for what they think he may have learned from the dying man. Starring Susan Sarandon, Tommy Lee Jones and the late Brad Renfro.

Grisham's very first novel, and some may say his best book, was "A Time To Kill". This storyline was made into a motion picture in 1996 and it introduced an up and coming new actor in the lead role, Matthew McConaughey. It also starred Sandra Bullock, Samuel L. Jackson and Kevin Spacey. Also from the year 1996 was "The Chamber" starring Chris O'Donnell, Gene Hackman and Faye Dunaway.

In 1997, "The Rainmaker" starring Matt Damon as a brand new lawyer who takes on the case of a boy denied medical treatment by a powerful insurance company. In 1998, the only movie from Grisham that was based upon an unpublished manuscript was released, "The Gingerbread Man" starring Kenneth Branagh and Robert Downey, Jr.

Of the 4 non-legal fiction books by Grisham, two have been made into movies, "A Painted House" in 2003 and the holiday favorite, "Christmas with the Kranks" starring Tim Allen and Jamie Lee Curtis and adapted from the book "Skipping Christmas".

"The Runaway Jury" starring Dustin Hoffman, Gene Hackman, John Cusack and Rachel Weisz was released in 2003. The next motion picture is planned for release in the year 2012. It is "The Associate", which was released as a book in January 2009.

Grisham has without doubt been one of the most famous and prolific authors in the recent past. With 22 stories out and one more planned for November 2009, 10 movies and another considered for 2012, he has never failed to entertain us. If you happened to neglect any of these notable movies you can now download them directly to your computer to see right away on your computer, TV or even your iPhone. - 18758
