Peacemaker Of The World

By Liz Thompson

James Twyman, the Peace Troubadour, got his nickname because of his peacemaking efforts around the world. He is a talented man who uses his abilities to unite people of all faiths through writing, film, and music.

James has made musical performances in peaceful areas such as the Pentagon, United Nations, the US Capitol, and at projects like The Cloth of Many Colors, but his passion is performing in areas of turmoil. He has performed for millions in Iraq, Ireland, South Africa, Bosnia, and Serbia.

Three of James most popular books include Emissary of Light, Emissary of Love, and his most recent, The Moses Code. The Moses Code is set for film release soon, joining other films he has produced, including the award-winning Indigo.

The Beloved Community is an organization for all religions, and it has 400 peace ministers all over the world. James Twyman is the president. He also founded the Seminary of Spiritual Peacemaking.

Raised Catholic, James decided at the age of 18 to become a Franciscan. It was in 1986 that James learned about a spiritual meeting in Assisi. There, religious leaders like the Pope and the Dalai Lama came together to pray for peace. In all, twelve religions were represented.

The meeting in Assisi was a pivotal point in the life of James Twyman. He saw that people of different backgrounds can come together for a single cause showing their similarities rather than their differences.

Years later, in 1994, James received a copy of the twelve Assisi prayers from a friend. It sat in a drawer for a week before he read it. While reading the first prayer, James heard music so plainly that he questioned whether it was coming from his head or the next room.

Within an hour of reading the twelve prayers, James had set all of them to music. James has many talents, but it was on that day that he realized his musical talent was the passion that would be able to reach the most people. Hes been spreading his message of peace ever since! - 18758
