Film Downloads As Useful As A Video Store

By Jeff Gomez

One of the finest and most inexpensive forms of amusement is viewing a motion picture that you can enjoy in the isolation of your own house. Nowadays there are many methods to uncover the film that you want to observe, you can go to a video store, become a member of a mail service or perhaps the greatest choice thus far is to download the motion picture right on your computer.

Downloading the motion picture straight to your computer proffers numerous advantages. First off you never have to leave your home to visit the video store and the motion picture that you want is always presented. Of course, there are no late charges and no concerns about getting the film back on time. Downloading movies at home can be a much better answer than going to the video store if you check out the websites and make sure that you are using a highly regarded and absolutely legal site.

The truth is that the overhead outlay of a movie download website are much fewer than the overhead expenditure of the typical video store. There is no expense for packaging and there are no expenses for the brick and mortar place. Therefore, you will ordinarily end up saving money over a video store if you pick a trustworthy movie download membership website.

There are abundant ways obtainable for film download websites. Though, some of these are illegitimate and they are circumventing copyright laws. Most often these sites will give you snips of the films rather than the complete edition and there may also be advertisements placed in the middle of the motion picture just like on TV. To make sure that you are getting a similar experience to a video store you need to shop around at the sites and make sure of what you are getting.

One of the primary red flags that you should look for is the cost of downloading the movies. Common sense tells you that you cannot really get a quality product for free. If the site is offering to allow you to download the show for free and at no fee to you, be circumspect. These websites are as a rule providing bootleg versions of the movie and they are violating copyright laws. In addition, you may only get clips of the movie and not the full thing and you run the jeopardy of adware and viruses.

The bulk of the lawful sites offer a membership selection where you pay a payment and then you are allowed limitless downloads for a specific period of time. Sometimes you can find a pay-per-download selection but if you ever want to download more than one or two films that usually ends up being much more high-priced than the membership option.

The amount charged cover the services low overhead, a profit margin and possibly the most notable thing, the royalty charges that are payable back to the copyright owners. Copyright law has a elongated history and it is imperative for all of us to know that our precious labor can be protected and that we can be remunerated for our efforts.

Downloading films is a great alternative to get the films that you want to watch. It is likely that this option will just get all the time more popular as time goes by. At this time you just have to make sure that you find a reputable and above-board website and keep away from the websites that are circumventing the piracy and copyright laws and then we will all be able to have the benefit of the expediency of this option in the future. - 18758

Like A Prayer Meaning Madonna

By Samantha Whittel

Madonna's Like a Prayer, condemned by Christian organizations as blasphemous upon its release in 1989, has topped a poll of videos which "broke the rules". "Like a Prayer" was her most explicit artistic statement in 1984. She incorporated dance, pop rock soul and funk elements all in the album.

She chose the title track as the first single. When it came out, Pepsi intended to use it as part of their commercial campaign featuring Madonna as the spokesperson. In addition, they would sponsor a 1989 world tour. However, the release of the video for "Like A Prayer" caused a firestorm. In it, Madonna witnesses a murder, makes love to a saint, displays stigmata after cutting her palms on a knife, and dances in a field of burning crosses.

Religious groups were furious and threatened to boycott Pepsi. Pepsi decided the risk was too great and they canceled their contract with Madonna. The Pepsi clip featured the portion of the video which shows the singer dancing around the hill with burning crosses and kissing a black Christ-like figure in what is apparently a Catholic church. It came first in a survey of 10 thousand MTV viewers, with Madonna's songs Ray of Light and Vogue also in the top5. Madonna, one of the icons of the MTV age - has been excluded from the network's play list on more than one occasion because of the content of her videos and/or the lyrics of her songs.

The following are parts of the the lyrics to Like A Prayer:

"just like a muse to me", Definition: muse: a force or person, esp. a woman, that inspires a creative artist So just who or what that is giving her the inspiration (muse) to her? It's clearly blasphemous so I'll leave that for you to decide.

"no end and no beginning" - clearly Alpha and Omega ... "no choice your voice can take me there"? - Could this be enticing listeners to chant good ol' predestination ...

"oh god I think I'm falling out of the sky I close my eyes, heaven help me": Perhaps this feeling has been experienced in the past of falling out of the sky? Fallen. Hm. The actual lyrics are as follows:

The actual lyrics are as follows:

Like A Prayer - Madonna

When you call my name it's like a little prayer I'm down on my knees, I wanna take you there In the midnight hour I can feel your power Just like a prayer you know I'll take you there

When you call my name it's like a little prayer I'm down on my knees, I wanna take you there In the midnight hour I can feel your power Just like a prayer you know I'll take you there

I hear your voice, it's like an angel sighing I have no choice, I hear your voice Feels like flying I close my eyes, Oh God I think I'm falling Out of the sky, I close my eyes Heaven help me

Like a child you whisper softly to me You're in control just like a child Now I'm dancing It's like a dream, no end and no beginning You're here with me, it's like a dream Let the choir sing

Life is a mystery, everyone must stand alone I hear you call my name, and it feels like home

Just like a prayer, your voice can take me there Just like a muse to me, you are a mystery Just like a dream, you are not what you seem Just like a prayer, no choice your voice can take me there

Just like a prayer, I'll take you there It's like a dream to me Just like a prayer, I'll take you there It's like a dream to me Just like a prayer, I'll take you there It's like a dream to me Just like a prayer, I'll take you there It's like a dream to me

Just like a prayer, I'll take you there It's like a dream to me Just like a prayer, I'll take you there It's like a dream to me Just like a prayer, I'll take you there It's like a dream to me Just like a prayer, I'll take you there It's like a dream to me

I must confess, I found the tune was very catchy... but like much pop product out there, not edifying in the least. To what does she refer? She alone could tell you that. The safer conclusion to draw is what she cannot possibly be referring to: The true Lord God of the Bible. He is neither a mystical force nor the puppeteer "like a child" whimsy she describes. Jehovah is neither a muse nor a dream. Let's not even start with the taking of His name in vain. At best, this song is a mix of incoherent mystical babble, at its worst, it's a sensualised caricature of God of blasphemous proportions. My view is that there are bits of pop out there that are harmlessly fun - for example, her Caribbean-sounding "La Isla Bonita" was a fun song. Not spiritually uplifting per se, but not evil either. - 18758

Beginner Violin Lessons | Super Important Tips

By Steven Campbell

When we decide to take things such as beginner violin lessons, we may not always know where to start. Our friend's may or may not know of a good instructor. In the case that no one does, then we are left to do the searching on our own.

One of the most important things that you learn when beginning on the violin, is the proper way to hold it. You will not be able to learn how to play without knowing how to properly hold the violin. The proper positioning of the violin dates back centuries ago.

You really want to know the right way to hold the violin from the start. Often, the way you are taught from the start affects your future playing. A qualified instructor will ensure that you begin the right way and do not pick up bad habits.

One thing to consider, is buying a chin rest if your violin does not come one. The reason for this has to do with the likeliness that your violin instructor will tell you to put the violin on either the right or left shoulder, depending on if you are right or left handed and then they will have you rest the chin on the chin rest, which is not possible if you don't have one.

Some find that they have more comfort with a shoulder rest. Most recommend that you purchase a chin rest if the violin that you own does not have one. Chin rests make it easier to find where to position the violin, while shoulder rests make playing more comfortable for some players.

Your first finger and thumb should hold the neck of the violin. While holding the violin, the palm should not touch the neck. Lightly grip the bow with your thumb and fingers and rest your little finger on the screw. Touch the pad with the first finger, which you relieve and add tension to the bow strokes with.

Always find someone with a known background in teaching violin. You want someone who will set a firm foundation in the beginner violin lessons that they teach you. - 18758

A Shopping Guide for Guitar Effects Pedals

By R. S. Rasnick

Guitar effects pedals have been on the scene since the 1960's when guitar-based music became predominant. An engineer named Roger Mayer is credited with inventing the first guitar effects device, a "fuzz" box, that evolved into the modern distortion and overdrive pedal, and the wah pedal. Mayer's clients included such noted rock n' rollers as Jimmy Page, Jeff Beck, and Jimi Hendrix. Supposedly, Mayer created the first effects pedal for his friend in the early 1960's. Now, countless effects pedals are used by guitar players every day.

Effects pedals are so popular with guitar players, especially electric guitarists, because they can easily expand the tonal range of the guitarists' sound. True, it's possible to use the guitar amplifier to change these sounds, but most amplifiers do not have built-in effects and the settings would have to be changed from song-to-song. Usually, guitarists want to be able to affect their sounds during a song or in various sections as well, so it makes sense keeping the pedals in front of them so they can change it themselves.

Just as the invention of the electric guitar and the amplifier gave the guitar player a far more powerful voice and greater sustainability of notes, so the effects pedals gave him a far wider range of expressive options. Today, even some acoustic guitar players and classical guitar players use effects pedals although the distortion and wah pedals used by electric guitar players aren't usually part of their tonal palette.

Since the first pedals were created, rack-mounted guitar effects have become more common. These were more popular during the 1980's, thanks to companies like Yamaha and Eventide. Since rack gear requires a more sophisticated and time-consuming approach (not to mention considerably more money) than pedals, most guitar players prefer effects pedals for their simplicity and tweakability.

So, with their effects usually mounted on pedalboards (a way to transport and store effects pedals), electric guitar players have only to "stomp" on the pedal box (hence the name "stompbox") to instantly switch on or switch off an effect. The wah-wah pedal and volume pedal is a little different than the others in that the player "rocks" the pedal back and forth to adjust the sound.

For ease of use, most (if not all) effects pedals can be turned on or off with a simple step of the toe, which can be useful in many musical situations. For example, if one wanted to switch from a heavily distorted tone to a clean tone quickly and easily, in order to have different tones for different sections of the song, it's easy to do so. Another quick motion and the distorted tone returns. Simple!

Guitarists often spend a great deal of time tweaking their effects, amps, and guitars just to get the "perfect" sound that they've been searching for. There are literally thousands of effect devices for you to chose from. Some more common effects include volume, wah, compression, distortion, overdrive, chorus, echo/delay, tremolo, and vibrato. Effects such as these can drastically and effectively shape a guitarist's sound.

If you are interested in broadening your sound or just trying something different, then you should give some of the above effects a try. Who knows? They may inspire your next killer solo! - 18758
