The Muse: Brooks plays a Hollywood screenwriter who's informed that he's out of touch until he hooks up with a genuine muse Rock, a capricious lady whose performing methods are unorthodox at best. As with tons of Brooks' films, the parts are better than the entire thing, although his gibes at Hollywood are valuable, and some of the cameo appearances which we come observe are extremely funny. Frontier Marshal: Vibrant retelling of occurrences leading to legendary gunfight at the OK Corral. Scott is perfect as Tombstone's new marshal, Wyatt Earp. Romero is more moody than cold-blooded as Dr. Halliday, and Kelly is the gal from his past who reminds the Dr. of his earlier, saner days as an obstetrician. Cast includes Randolph Scott, Nancy Kelly, Cesar Romero, Binnie Barnes, John Carradine, and Eddie Foy. (71 minutes, 1939)

Hollow Man: Sebastian Caine is working on a top-secret assignment for the U.S. government. He is trying to unlock the keys to human invisibility. After succeeding on laboratory animals, he can't resist, and takes the serum himself. He becomes irreversibly invisible, and feels threatened by those trying to cure him.

Agnes of God: A youthful nun evidently became pregnant, then killed the baby in the cloistered environment of a convent. The court assigned psychiatrist finds no simple answers. Upsetting, not unconditionally pleasing, although electrified by 3 brilliant performances, and beautifully photographed by Sven Nykvist. Cast includes Jane Fonda, Anne Bancroft, Meg Tilly, Anne Pitoniak, Winston Reckert, and Gratien Gelinas. (98 minutes, 1985)

Tips on Improving Your Blues Guitar Practice - Lessons

Practicing consistently and well is a much harder thing to do then it seems and there are many reasons why this is the case. Before I go on, I just want to say that bad practice habits affects even the most experienced blues players but it can be overcome with some help. Here are some of the issues that you may face when practicing and here are some usable solutions:

1) Problem: Getting stuck in a rut. This is a very common problem that affects nearly all guitarists at some point in time. You end up playing the same riff and lick over and over every time you play and you can't seem to move on to anything new.

Solution: I am a firm believer that you should aspire to play everything perfectly. But, if you are stuck on this one thing and you feel like practice is getting a little stale, you should really move on to something else that inspires you. It is so important to be inspired in your practice and you can always come back to something later when you are in the right mood.

2) Problem: Progressing to new skills too rapidly. Also a very common problem, moving on too quickly will without doubt, eventually turn you into a "jack of all trades and a master of none".

Solution: This problem is the opposite of the last problem we looked at. You can now see that there is a balance between too much and not enough emphasis on perfecting a song. My suggestion is that you should master each thing before you go on to the next, but if you are finding a particular skill impossible to master and you are dying of boredom trying, maybe that skill is a little out of your reach. In this case, it is best to go back and learn something less difficult.

3) Problem: Becoming narrow minded in relation to the different areas of learning within musicianship. Some people get into the situation where they are practicing only one style and neglecting everything else.

Solution: Try splitting your playing into parts. For example, I might spend 5 minutes practicing new blues scales or chords, 10 minutes working on writing new music for myself and maybe 15 minutes learning a new song or part of a song. This way, your practice never gets boring and you can achieve a lot more.

4) Problem: Playing things too fast when you are trying to learn them. This might cause you to become disillusioned with your playing when you are trying to learn a new song. Trying to play too fast when you are not capable of doing so will also make you lose interest in practice.

Solution: A fairly obvious solution here - Slow down. Most blues guitarists, including myself try playing a song or new skill at a slow speed before trying it at a fast pace.

Practicing properly and regularly is the best way to become good at anything including playing the guitar. This requires discipline; not only discipline to practice regularly, but also discipline to stay focused and on track when you are practicing. If you stay disciplined with your playing you will develop into an excellent player. - 18758

Dream Warriors: When agitated kids in a psychiatric clinic find they are being visited in their dreams by the giggling, murderous figure of Freddy Krueger, Nancy Langenkamp, the survivor of the first film and now a psychiatrist, helps another physician and the terrified adolescents battle Freddy. Well written and imaginatively prompted, this is the best of the Elm Road films. Deliverance: This is an excellent re-creation of the Dickey novel of 4 Atlanta businessmen who get more than they can handle throughout a weekend canoe trip. McKinney and Coward are 2 of the most horrifying film scoundrels in history. The "Dueling Banjos" scene is very memorable. Film debuts of Beatty and Cox. James Dickey adjusted his own novel, and appears in the film as a sheriff. Ed O'Neill appears as a freeway watcher near end of film. Wyatt Earp: The story of Wyatt Earp, legendary gunman in the west. Wyatt Earp lived from 1848-1929 and roamed the western frontier towns of America. He was one of the key players at the famous gunfight and the OK corral. Wyatt survived that day, and then hunted down the rest of the bad guys.

Nightmare on Elm Street Four: Refreshed by flaming mutt urine, Freddy Krueger ultimately kills all the kids of those who initially burned him to death, and looks for new teenagers to terrorize, although he's challenged by a "fantasy master," his metaphysical counterpart. Series was showing its age by this point. Cast includes Renny Harlin, Robert Englund, Rodney Eastman, Danny Hassel, Andras Jones, Tuesday Horseman, Toy Newkirk, Ken Sagoes, Brooke Theiss, and Lisa Wilcox. (92 minutes, 1988)

William Hurt, Kathleen Turner, Geena Davis, Amy Wright, and Bill Pullman star. (1988 Drama)

Bar Girls: Friendly if faulty romantic comedy with a twist: most of its chief characters are lesbians who assemble at L.A.'s Girl Bar. The core personality is compulsive, wryly ludicrous Loretta Wolfe, a female Woody Allen who desires an exact better half but not truly grasping what it means to genuinely and entirely love another person. The film's shortcomings are made up for by witty discussion and believable characters. Cast includes Nancy Allison Wolfe, Liza D'Agostino, Camila Griggs, Justine Slater, Lisa Parker, and Pam Raines. Try or Rock: Neil Simon's supreme comedy of embarrassment, adjusted from Bruce Jay Friedman's small tale "A Change of Plan." Jewish boy Grodin gets wedded to Berlin and meets an attractive WASP blonde Shepherd on their honeymoon, and decides he must change his life. Very comical but that depends on your point of view. Nightmare on Elm Street: A few teenagers find they're all having bad dreams about the same bad guy, scar faced Fred Krueger, a sort of ghost who can enter their dreams at will and attack them while they sleep. It's up to Nancy Langenkamp to try to stop Freddy Krueger. Cast includes Lionel Atwill, Fay Wray, Glenda Farrell, Allen Vincent, Blunt McHugh, and Arthur Edmund Carewe. (77 minutes, 1933)

The Lost World; Jurassic Park: John Hammond has learned to bring dinosaurs back to life from their DNA. After an attempt at marketing viewing these dinosaurs goes terribly wrong, all the animals are killed and the island closed. The problem is that something has survived.
